Providence Health & Services Radiologic Technologist - Imaging Services in Walla Walla, Washington

Description:

Providence is calling a Radiologic Technologist (Imaging Services, Variable Shift, 0.1 FTE ) to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. In this position you will:

  • Embrace High Reliability Organization (HRO) philosophy.

  • Actively participate in departmental and organizational performance improvement activities in accordance with hospital and Joint Commission standards.

  • Perform all aspects of Imaging examination according to established protocol.

  • Enter/Update clinical patient data into the computer.

  • Prepare exam data for diagnostic interpretation.

  • Adhere to compliance with all personnel policies, operational policies and HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.

  • Maintain a safe and unobstructed work area, practices good safety habits and observes OSHA safety rules and guidelines including, but not limited to: practicing safety precautions/infection control, wearing required protective clothing and equipment, following established protocol for the disposal of sharps and contact/disposal of blood and other bodily fluids.

  • Understand and apply appropriately quality assurance and improvement processes.

  • Educate and assist employees to department processes and protocols.

  • Assist the On-site Clinical instructor with student education.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff in a professional manner.

  • Interview patient prior to and during exam with the intent of determining appropriateness and optimizing the procedure for patient condition, comfort and proper diagnosis.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, to be able to explain procedures and to be sensitive to the needs of the patient and family.

  • Perform general clerical duties (phone, filling, faxing, copying, etc.)

  • Greet patient pleasantly, confirms identity and explains examination in a manner for the patient's understanding.

  • Involve the attending provider of any less than optimal outcome.

  • "Safety First” approach in all aspect of daily work.

  • Maintain a Continuing Education documentation according to requirements set out to maintain accrediting/registering modality (ARRT, ARDMS, MQSA).

  • Stock rooms (designated PAR, rotating stock according to expiration date).

  • Complete examination and records all relevant documentation in patient medical record.

  • Perform transport as necessary.

  • Adhere/perform to QA/QC schedule.

  • Report patient incidents according to policy.

  • Ability to work independently and rotate call shifts, designated by Lead.

  • Complete work in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work closely across departments for cooperation.

  • Use sound judgment and critical thinking skills in adverse/stressful situations.

  • HUMAN RESOURCES:

  • Employee completes all tasks and duties accurately and timely within assigned shift. Demonstrates initiative to perform job duties autonomously.

  • Attend mandatory and other education offerings per department and hospital requirements. May assist with education on the unit.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Completion of an accredited radiologic training program or equivalent educ/experience.

  • Current WA State X-Ray Technician Registration or Radiologic Technologist Certification.

  • Registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and licensed in Radiology (R) within 3 months of hire date.

  • Current BLS - Healthcare provider must be AHA accredited.

  • Six (6) months x-ray tech experience or completion of PSMMC Imaging Clinical Rotation.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Imaging or Radiologic Science.
