Swedish Health Services Point of Care Coordinator - Laboratory Point of Care in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Swedish Health Services is looking for a Point of Care Coordinator (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in the Laboratory Point of Care department at Swedish First Hill, Main in Seattle, WA.

This position is responsible for filling in for the POCC daily job duties. It will also support the system-wide Point of Care lab testing program by performing duties that are assigned as centralized duties by the POC Manager. This includes, performing new meter/analyzer validations, overseeing the Proficiency program, and providing customer service support for the point of care helpline in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards. It also includes assisting with implementation of new service areas and improvements in technology.

In this position you will:

  • Implements and maintains procedures, methods, techniques and approved plans for point of care program to meet all regulatory compliance by TJC, DOH-LQA, and CMS as assigned by the POC manager.

  • Remains knowledgeable of current CLIA, TJC, DOH-LQA, and CMS requirements regarding point of care testing and ensure that the hospital staff meets those requirements.

  • Manages point of care testing databases and utilizes data for quality assurance, quality improvement and utilization. Reviews and responds to quality assurance data on a daily basis.

  • Provides assistance to hospital staff and actively coaches the staff to resolve problems regarding point of care testing.

  • Troubleshoots and maintains instrumentation and quality control of equipment as designated by the Sr. POCC or System-wide POC manager.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in lab science or medical technology

  • Bachelor’s degree in lab science or medical technology

  • Two (2) years’ experience as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Medical Technologist (MT) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification

  • One (1) year leadership and / or Point of Care testing experience

  • Experience working directly with clinical staff, supervisors, managers and physicians in a hospital setting

  • Background experience with emphasis in client service
