Swedish Health Services Patient Services Coordinator - Pediatric Therapy Services in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Patient Services Coordinator (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Pediatric Therapy Services at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.
This position performs a variety of front office clerical and support tasks in an outpatient setting. Responsible for greeting patients, new referral intake, appointment and surgical scheduling, insurance authorization, collecting insurance co-payments, billing, abstracting, and clinic medical record management. Manages external database for patient tracking purposes, daily deposits for front office and retail, and reminder call organization. Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team in developing and implementing process flow as it relates to bariatric patient care.
In this position you will:
Create a safe and comfortable environment. Demonstrate sensitive and caring behavior to severely obese individuals. Ensure effective and efficient work process in caring for patients.
Answer the telephone by identifying the department and own name. Record and relay messages in a courteous and helpful manner. Provide a prompt, reliable response, ensuring that messages reach providers. Check voice mail for messages. Orient patients and families to the clinic. Available to patients and families if there are questions or concerns.
Receive and complete all information required for new patient referral. Verify required information, e.g. medical information, verification of Insurance information, referring MD letter for service when requested.
Schedule patients for office visits and surgical procedures. Coordinate scheduling with other clinical staff and departments for various procedures or physician and therapy evaluations related to Bariatric surgery preparation. Prepare copy of the patient/practitioner schedule daily. Contact patients to remind them of their appointments or change in appointment.
Contact payer for authorization/verification for requested visits, treatments, procedures and/or Bariatric benefits. Document and notify practitioner and patient if authorization for service is denied.
