Swedish Health Services Health Unit Coordinator - Neonatal Intensive Care (Level IV) in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Health Unit Coordinator (0.9 FTE, Day SHIFT) to work in Neonatal Intensive Care (Level IV) at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.
Responsible for performing general secretarial and clerical duties in the patient care areas. Interacts with patients, families and physicians and acts as a liaison among members of the health care team, patients and families. Assists the nursing staff in coordinating the activity of the unit. Oversees the orderliness of work areas and orders forms and other clerical supplies.
In this position you will:
Greet visitors, providing information and assistance as needed. Work with patients, families, visitors and physicians to identify needs, resolve problems or provide other information.
Prepare. a paper chart and print stickers from electronic medical record for each new patient. Provide welcome brochures.
Perform all ADT (admission, discharge and transfer) functions. Prepare charts for transfer and discharge.
Instructs families and visitors in hand hygiene protocols. Participates in the education of patient/families to unit practices/routines and orients patients to unit per protocols.
Gives report to relief staff, including items that require follow up. Updates patient assignment board. Assigns pagers and locators to nursing staff.
Required qualifications for this position include:
- One (1) year experience in related healthcare setting, or completion of a Health Unit Coordinator program, or 3 months in a Swedish internship program
Preferred qualification for this position include:
- Previous experience using electronic medical records
