Swedish Health Services Exercise Physiologist - Cardiac Rehab in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Where you work matters! Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Exercise Physiologist (Per Diem, Day Shift) to work in the Cardiac Rehab Department at the Cherry Hill Campus in Seattle, WA.

The Exercise Physiologist assists in the development and enhancement of comprehensive cardiovascular rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, and related programs for CardioVascular Wellness Services that meet established AACVPR, AHA and ACSM standards. Clinical responsibilities include providing instruction on and monitoring of exercise therapy, development and consultation of exercise prescriptions, exercise and risk factor modification education both in the classroom and individually. Administrative responsibilities include working with and directly supervising student interns. The Exercise Physiologist serves as a resource to the multidisciplinary team in matters relating to exercise, exercise prescription, and risk factor modification.

In this position you will:

  • Provide individualized health-coaching and mentoring appropriate to individual’s need and program protocol.

  • Develop and update personalized exercise prescription based on GXT, risk stratification and/or medications, and patient tolerance.

  • Lead onsite exercise classes, monitor and document subjective and objective responses to exercise.

  • Deliver a la carte exercise consultations and evaluations

  • Document patient variances, changes in condition, and follow-up. Maintain communication with RN, referring physician and rest of team.

  • Perform as speaker for patient education classes, community events and/or hospital inservices as appropriate.

  • Act as resource for participants and staff in matters pertaining to exercise prescription, therapy and risk factor modification.

  • Assist with assurance of appropriate use of National Standards of Care in terms of policies, procedures and practices of the multidisciplinary approach to cardiac rehabilitative care as related to exercise, dietary modification, stress management and education.

  • Remain current in field and scope of cardiovascular risk reduction, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and treatment options through continuing education, literature review and maintaining certification requirements.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Cardiac Rehabilitation or related field.

  • Prior work experience interpreting GXT’s, formulating and updating personalized exercise prescriptions, and risk factor and behavior modification.

  • Demonstrated work experience in interpreting GXT’s, formulating and updating personalized exercise prescriptions, and risk factor and behavior modification.

  • Current certification in the following is required: AHA BCLS, ACLS, and ACSM Exercise Specialist Certification.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Cardiac Rehabilitation or related field.

  • 2 years Bachelor’s Degree: minimum of two (2) years experience.

  • 1 year Master’s Degree: minimum of one (1) year experience handling own participant caseload in cardiovascular risk reduction and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation or related field.
