Kadlec RN - Lactation Specialist *Temporary* in Richland, Washington
Kadlec has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse Lactation Specialist to join our growing Labor and Delivery team located in Richland, Washington!
Shift Details: Full-Time, 0.9, 12 hour variable shift. Shifts include weekends.
This is a temporary benefited role that we anticipate to last approximately 6 months.
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher degree) from an accredited educational institution, or degree in progress. If BSN or higher is in progress, must be completed within 3 years from date of hire.
Current WA State RN Licensure.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS.
NRP within 3 months.
One (1) year recent nursing experience, with emphasis on breast-feeding experience.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
As a Registered Nurse Lactation Specialist you will perform activities to encourage and support breast feeding to Kadlec Medical Center families including inpatients, outpatients, prenatal clients and employees. Updates nursing staff/Physicians on current information regarding breast-feeding and performs related duties as assigned.
Demonstrate and sustain compliance with the Caregiver Expectations and Code of Conduct.
Provide consultation and instruction in basic breast feeding routines and techniques to new mothers, both inpatient and outpatient.
Identify and problem-solves breast feeding problems, both inpatient and outpatient.
Provide instruction, written information and demonstration of the use of various types of breast pumps and other devices.
Schedule outpatient visits and provides consultation for breast feeding problems following discharge.
Document nursing interventions, patient response, effectiveness and complications.
Serve as a resource for Kadlec Medical Center staff, physicians, and physicians’ office staff.
Participate in training and updating Maternal Child Services and ChildBirth instructor staff.
Act as a liaison with community resources (i.e. LaLeche League, Public Health Department).
Conduct breast-feeding education classes to the community as applicable.
Communicate effectively with patients, staff and physicians.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the unit as outlined in established procedures.
Adhere to standard policies as outlined in department related to infection control, fire and safety, hazardous chemicals, personnel policies and departmental procedures.
Demonstrate annually: skills required for Unit/Medical Center.
Perform other duties as assigned.
