St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Central Supply Tech - Materials Management in Petaluma, California

We are looking for a Central Supply Technician - National Union of Health Workers for the Materials Management Department at NorCal HealthConnect.

Location: Petaluma, CA

Work Schedule: Part time - 16 Biweekly hours

Shift: 8 hour, Days

Job Summary:

Supplies all departments with supplies and equipment needed to do their jobs and serve our patients. Charges patients for those supplies used.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilizes the Materials Management Information System and handheld computers effectively for daily tasks as well as to trouble-shoot problems and research data to improve service.

  • Participates in the maintenance of a clean, well-organized storeroom, assuring shelves are neat and orderly, and on-hands are accurate.

  • Maintains accurate par level inventories using handheld computers, assuring par level locations are: clean, supplies are rotated according to policy, and par level locations are free of outdated supplies. This is to include supplies stored in all med rooms on nursing units.

  • Inventories and replenishes supplies, on specialty carts and case carts with strict attention to accuracy, checking for outdates, charging patients, and cleaning used carts according to infection control guidelines.

  • Maintains Daily Shift Report with accuracy to assure excellence in communication between shifts and the perpetual availability of critical equipment. Takes responsibility on off-hours for renting critical equipment when appropriate.

  • Takes responsibility at all times for supportive and positive relationships with co-workers and customers, both in person and on the phone.

  • Responsible for computer input charging of patient chargeable items, with strict attention to detail and patient confidentiality.

  • Retrieves used equipment form soiled utility rooms, and returns to Central for cleaning according to Infection Control Guidelines.

  • Responsible for accuracy in patient charging of Oxygen used in patient rooms.

  • Responsible for signing out of all items that are issued from the storeroom to the appropriate units.


  • Ability to communicate professionally.

  • Exercises critical thinking skills in an environment which includes varying, unpredictable, and crisis circumstances.

  • Basic computer and data entry skills.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Experience : Customer service experience or an interest in positions of service.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience : Central Supply, hospital or warehouse experience.
