We are looking for Respiratory Care Practitioner for the Respiratory Care Services Department at St. Joseph Hospital Orange.

Location: Orange, CA

Work Schedule: On Call / Per Diem

Shift: 12 hour, Night

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager an RCP II will provide respiratory care appropriate to their area of assignment.

Essential Functions:

  • Delivers care consistent with department policies and procedures.

  • Utilizes all medications and devices safely in accordance with approved standards of care.

  • Demonstrates ability to assess and interpret age specific data in order to provide for/ meet age specific needs.

  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare providers in all aspects of respiratory care.

  • Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism when working both inside and outside of the department.

  • Is knowledgeable of, observes and complies with hospital codes of Safe Practice, Safety policies, and Emergency procedures.

  • Utilizes life support and all equipment properly within the hospital per manufacturer requirements.

  • Demonstrates the ability to evaluate a situation from many perspectives and considers various alternatives and chooses a course of action consistent with hospital/ department policies.

  • Participates and accepts new procedures willingly, evaluates new techniques and equipment as introduced/ requested.


  • Ability to communicate professionally.

  • Exercises critical thinking skills in an environment that includes varying, unpredictable, and crisis circumstances.

  • Data entry skills.

Minimum Position Requeirements:

Education: Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy Program providing clinical rotations in acute care settings.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current California RCP license.

  • Current BLS certification.

  • Current ACLS certification.

  • Current PALS certification.

  • MAB certification obtained within 60 days of hire.
