St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Nursing Assistant II - Centralized Monitoring in Orange, California
We are looking for a Nursing Assistant II for the Centralized Monitoring Department at St. Joseph Hospital Orange.
Location: Orange, CA
Work Schedule: Full time - 72 Biweekly Hours
Shift: 12-hour, Days
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse the Nurse Assistant will provide routine direct patient care within specific unit policies and procedures, report pertinent information to the Registered Nurse and respond to patient care needs.
Responds to the needs of patients in a proactive way.
Accurately and timely collects/reports to registered nurse and documents data such as vital signs, intake and output, percent of meal eaten and patient care provided.
Demonstrates competency when performing the following patient care procedures: oral suctioning, measurements for intake and out put, collection and labeling of specimens, apply electrodes for cardiac monitors (in areas where applicable), and application and removal of restraints.
Provides for patient comfort and privacy during personal hygiene care such as bath care, mouth care, perineal care and skin care and assists with activities of daily living such as feeding, ambulating, and toileting.
Communicates appropriately to create and sustain positive working relationship with patient/family and other health care providers.
Adapts to changing needs by acquiring new skills and behaviors.
Follows isolation procedures/practices and other Infection Control measures.
Maintains a safe working environment by adhering to all hospital and departmental policy and procedures. Identifies and reports unsafe conditions to the registered nurse.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to interact with patients, co-worker, and physicians in a courteous, service oriented manner.
Demonstrates cooperation and flexibility by responding to varying and unpredictable situations.
Demonstrates ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to transport and lift patients using hospital approved lifting devices or techniques.
Minimum Position Requirements:
Education: Coursework/Training - Completion of first semester of a Registered Nurse academic program.
Experience: 6 months acute, psych or long-term care facility experience.
Current California Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) certification.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider.
Preferred Position Qualifications:
Experience: Acute care experience.
