St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Laboratory IT Analyst - Clinical Laboratory in Orange, California

We are looking for a Laboratory IT Analyst for the Clinical Laboratory Department at St. Joseph Hospital Orange.

Location: Orange, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of the Division Supervisor/Manager, the Laboratory IT Analyst provides support to Pathologists & Clinical Areas of the laboratory by responding appropriately to inquiries. Implements new programs, coordinates and executes information systems within the lab while providing assistance to the Senior Lab IT Analyst.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates timely and respectful response to inquiries, providing accurate information, clarifies any computer issues then promptly responds to appropriate parties.

  • Demonstrates accurate data entry including proper handling / verification of charges, documentation of edits, comments, combining accounts and cancellations. Handles all charge rejections and CDM issues.

  • Assist in coordinating all activities of the department information systems / users as well as any programming updates and modifications including test codes and charges.

  • Assists in resolving department information systems problems.

  • Communicates verbally and/or in writing to all areas inside and outside the lab department concerning computer systems information problems and needs.

  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize and complete priorities first within established times then completing remaining work with flexibility to meet customer service needs.

  • Answers telephone calls promptly exhibiting courteous responses in a positive professional manner.

  • Interacts with patients / physicians / peers / management in a positive professional manner, demonstrating good communication skills.

  • Adheres to department and hospital policy and procedures regarding patient and client safety confidentiality and Medicare/HIPAA compliance.

  • Assists with orientation, training and evaluations of staff.

Skills:

  • Ability to perform basic computer keyboard data entry.

  • Ability to problem solve within scope of training.

  • Ability to interact with other healthcare staff members in a professional courteous manner and demonstrates good communication / telephone skills.

  • Ability to follow directions regarding assigned tasks, dealing with priority tasks first, then complete remaining tasks within the established time frames.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and maintain a pace appropriate to the workload.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Experience: 1 year experience in computer related operations and client interaction.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education: Associate's Degree in Business or computer related field.

Experience: 2 years experience in general office work including computer data entry skills and client interaction preferably in hospital, laboratory or medical office setting.
