We are looking for a Cook for the Dietary Department at St. Joseph Hospital Orange.

Location: Orange, CA

Work Schedule: Part time - 40 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days (Variable)

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the chef, prepares and cooks food for patients, staff and visitors. Responsible for maintaining production and related areas in a clean and sanitary manner in accordance with all local, state and federal regulating agencies.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure food is prepared for patients and non-patients in an attractive manner and handled in accordance with all governmental regulations.

  • Ability to follow standardized recipes ensuring that there is adequate food to meet demands.

  • Have a working knowledge and demonstrate the ability to prepare meals for the patient population being served (young adult (18-45 years), middle adult (46-60 years), and older adult (60+ years)) in accordance with the prescribed diet.

  • Demonstrate the ability to prepare food safely following HACCP principles.

  • Ensures that area is maintained in a sanitary manner in accordance with all regulatory agencies.

  • Attends department meetings, in-services and staff meetings as scheduled.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of and interest in food production and presentation are required.

  • Communication skills.

  • Ability to read, write and communicate.

  • Basic math skills required for recipe conversion and measurement.

  • Knowledge of sanitation, storage of food items and rotation of stock.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Experience: 1 year experience in quantity food preparation.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education: Coursework/Training - Graduation from an armed forces service cooks and bakers program or a community college quantity food production course.

Experience: Food service experience in a hospital or restaurant setting.

Licenses/Certifications: ServSafe Food Handler certification.
