St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Associate Sterile Processing Technician - Sterile Processing in Orange, California

We are looking for an Associate Sterile Processing Technician for the Sterile Processing - Main Hospital department at St. Joseph Hospital Orange.

Location: Orange, CA

Work Schedule: On call/Per diem

Shift: 8 hour, Nights

Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Assistant manager, and the Supervisors, the Associate Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of all instrumentation, supplies, and equipment in the Main O.R., Surgery Center and other SJO units.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares instruments for decontamination.

  • Sterilizes instrumentation and supplies according to hospital policy. Records testing and loads content. Communicates issues related to testing results.

  • Reports broken equipment, instruments, and patient safety issues to management team immediately.

  • Cleans, assembles, and wraps surgery instrument trays, specialty trays, and procedural trays.

  • Communicates clearly and professionally with all members of the healthcare team and other personnel in both providing and obtaining information.

Skills :

  • Knowledge of routine testing performed on equipment, instrumentation, decontamination, sterilization, and case cart system.

  • Communication skills.

  • Establish priorities and work flexibility to meet customer service demands.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic aseptic technique into daily functions.

  • Knowledge of scheduling and staffing.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

License/Certification: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT).

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience : 1 year experience as a Central Service Technician in a hospital setting.
