Providence is calling a Nutrition Assistant,0.7 FTE 28 hours per week Evening/Part-time to Providence St. Peter Hospital , Food and Nutrition Services in Olympia, Washington.

In this position you will:

We are seeking a Nutrition Assistant

In accordance with assigned position, performs a variety of clerical/technical duties in support of patient nutrition. May orient patients to the Room Service program; receive meal orders and perform computer data entry; monitor patients' menu selections; and assemble and deliver orders. Must be able to take orders directly from the customer and read, interpret and expedite customer orders in an organized and timely manner. Must be able to work under the pressure and stringent time constraints and remain calm and organized. Direct customer service and contact with customers in the retail areas is required in this position.

In this position you will:

o Instructs patients on meal ordering system following an established script. Assesses patients ability to utilize the meal order system and follow up with appropriate staff member if unable to participate:

o Demonstrates knowledge of customer service skills, ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals.

o Services meals to patients in a professional and efficient manner.

o Delivers the correct menu ( menu compliant ) to the patient.

o Assists patients and or family members in placing the meal order.

o Participates in the process of gathering, delivering and storing food supplies to nursing units.

o Demonstrates knowledge of food safety, food handling, infection control and dietary restrictions.

o Demonstrates knowledge of body substance isolation procedures and biohazard material disposal.

o Orders and replenishes bulk supplies on nursing units.

o Participates in the process of recording food and fluid intake for patient meals and snacks.

o Demonstrates ability to perform basic math skills, calculate percent of food intake and cubic centimeters of fluid intake and records on I /O record.

o Retrieves completed meals from patients rooms in a timely manner.

o Demonstrate knowledge of hospital layout and other departments.

o Delivers between meal nourishments directly to patients.

o Demonstrates ability to work with patients, managers and clients of various ages' groups.

o Considers patient, manager/client background and work history to effectuate positive work experience/relationship.

o Responds appropriately according to age related needs and considerations.

o Acts as a liaison between food & nutrition department, the patient and nursing unit.

o Anticipates patient/ team member needs and services them .

o Serves as a quality assurance control point for every aspect of the room service program.

o Communicates with members of the other departments effectively and concisely regarding patient support, issues, requests and other special situations.

o Mediate patient concerns regarding meal service and advocates for patient regarding food service.

Qualifications:

Education:

License/Certification:

o Food Service Worker's permit (State board of Health Rules and Regulations, Chapter 197 Law of 1959 State of Washington).

Experience:

2 years Related food preparation experience.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

H.S. Diploma or GED

License/Certification:
