St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Associate Food Service Attendant in Napa, California

We are looking for an Associate Food Service Attendant for the Dietary Department at Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

Location: Napa, CA

Work Schedule: On Call / Per Diem

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of kitchen duties as assigned in the preparation and serving of hospital meals. Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. Provides no supervision to others.

Essential Functions:

  • Follows approved food service safety practices to ensure that safe conditions are maintained in the kitchen, food-serving areas, and in dining areas.

  • Stores food and supplies in accordance with instructions.

  • Sets up service and production stations with food, condiments, and utensils.

  • Serves and replenishes food from counters and steam tables and breaks down stations at end of meal periods (may include patient trayline service which includes conveyor belt).

  • Prepares or assists in the preparations of a variety of foods/beverages in accordance with departmental work production standards (sandwiches, grill items, coffee, tea, salads, etc.).

  • Accepts money for food and beverages served during the day as taught in order to maintain good money handling practices and food sanitation practices.

  • Delivers Meal trays to patients room, when assigned, using infection prevention hand hygiene practices.

Skills:

  • Ability to work with various pieces of kitchen equipment (large and small) that are appropriate for tasks to be completed.

  • Ability to work perishable and non-perishable food products, cleaning supplies, and service supplies.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively giving and receiving information in a manner easily understood by co-workers.

  • Able to distinguish colors - red/green; blue/yellow; etc.

  • Computer skills (Excel & Word) and cash handling preferred.

  • Customer service/phone skills preferred.

Experience: Food service experience.
