St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Radiologic Technologist - Radiology in Mission Viejo, California

We are looking for a Radiologic Technologist for the Radiology Department at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

Location: Mission Viejo, CA

Work Schedule: On Call/ Per Diem

Shift: 10-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, operates conventional, fluoroscopic, or portable radiology equipment to obtain routine radiographics of designated body portions, providing assessment and care for infants, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients according to physician specifications. In doing so, positions patients and adjusts x-ray equipment to correct setting for each examination. Assists physicians in carrying out examinations by mixing and preparing contrast media, assisting in sterile procedures, and the like.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs quality and timely radiologic procedures demonstrating thorough knowledge of radiographic equipment to support accurate medical diagnosis. Appropriately prepares and positions patients for procedures or exams. Demonstrates the ability to perform psychosocial and development age-related needs of the specific population served. Resolves problems independently and effectively to ensure optimal patient care obtaining proper end results.

  • Completes requisitions, patient histories, patient exam documentation, and related paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Scans patient paperwork /orders into PACS.

  • Performs computer processing as assigned by supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Completes and accurately documents individual and routine assignments independently as required or requested.

  • Proactive participation instructing new personnel and students to ensure proper orientation to department policy and procedure.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for routing contact with employees, physicians, patients, and patient’s families.

  • Computer data entry skills to enter patient, procedure, and billing information.

  • Basic understanding of physics, math, anatomy, and medical terminology.

  • Ability to walk and stand up to 80% of work shift.

  • Ability to move and position adult and pediatric patients.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Visual capabilities to observe patients and equipment.

  • Excellent radiation safety skills to include wearing lead protection, as well as protective measures and patient safety measures/precautions.

  • Knowledge of contrast materials and contrast reaction interventions.

  • Ability to perform necessary procedures and knowledge of age specific protocols.

  • Ability to handle intense situations.

  • Proficient in required competencies upon completion of orientation, as listed on the unit specific competency inventory.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Licenses/Certifications:

  • CRT certificate.

  • ARRT(R) Radiography.

  • Fluoroscopy permit within 6 months of hire (effective 8/1/2016).

  • Healthcare Provider level BLS Certification.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education: Participation in continuing education program.
