St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Lead Radiation Therapist - Radiation Oncology in Mission Viejo, California

We are looking for a Lead Radiation Therapist for the Radiation Oncology Department at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

Location: Mission Viejo, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Coordinates, prepares, and administers radiation therapy treatments and simulation procedures to infants, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist with minimum supervision. Applies appropriate radiation safety practices, performs quality assurance procedures, and provides clear and concise documentation.

Essential Functions

  • Assist manager in the supervision of the Radiation Therapy Staff, directing daily clinic activities, scheduling and maintaining appropriate staffing, troubleshooting and assuming a leadership role to ensure quality patient care and efficient use of resources are maintained.

  • Performs safe and efficient operation of the equipment. Reviews the patient chart, treatment plan, prescription, dosimetry, and set up instructions prior to treatment procedures; and positions patients accurately during treatments.

  • Performs clear and concise documentation.

  • Provides and maintains quality patient care and relations, collaborating with the health care team to provide assistance and care to the patient in a positive, efficient and proactive manner.

Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of radiation oncology procedures, radiation physics, radiobiology, radiation protection, anatomy and positioning and dosimetry.

  • Ability to safely and accurately operate the radiation therapy equipment, linear accelerators, simulators, and computers.

  • Ability to follow directions and is accountable for analyzing and problem solving.

  • Ability to establishes priorities, organize and complete work in a timely manner.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients and others.

  • Ability to encourage teamwork and initiative in enhancing operations and patient care.

  • Leadership skills.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education: Coursework/Training - Satisfactory completion in a program of formal education as recommended by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiation Therapy or Radiologic Technology, which has been approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).

Experience : 2 years Radiation therapy experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • CRT.

  • ARRT in Radiation Therapy or Radiology.

  • BLS Certification.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience : 3 years Combination of clinical and supervisory experience.
