We are looking for HVAC Mechanic for Plant Operations Deparment at Mission Hospital Reg Med Ctr.

Location: Mission Viejo, CA

Work Schedule: Full time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

To operate, maintain, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair the following systems/equipment: electrical, plumbing, and medical gas systems, boiler, pumps, chillers, fire sprinklers, fire alarm, HVAC systems, refrigeration, generators, and medical support equipment. Work closely with Stationary Engineers and other staff to ensure that equipment and systems are functioning properly.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform corrective maintenance, (both minor and major repairs) on the following systems/equipment: electrical, plumbing, medical gas systems, boilers, pumps, chillers, fire sprinklers, fire alarm, HVAC system, refrigeration, generators, and medical support equipment. Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic & unit specific) as indicated on the Competency Inventory.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on the following systems/equipment: electrical, plumbing, medical gas systems, boilers, pumps, chillers, fire sprinklers, fire alarm, HVAC system, refrigeration, generators, and medical support equipment. Follows written work procedures, following established guidelines to assure accuracy and timely competencies. Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic & unit specific) as indicated on the Competency Inventory.

  • Provides accurate documented records of daily work complete with equipment identification, summary of work performed, etc. Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic & unit specific) as indicated on the Competency Inventory.

  • Provides necessary information to Manager to ensure that stocked parts are maintained at appropriate levels and appropriate supplies, parts, and tools are available for planned work to minimize the down time of any equipment or system. Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic & unit specific) as indicated on the Competency Inventory.

  • Assists with any other duties that may be assigned to enable the department to fulfill its mission. Completes all assigned work in an appropriate or assigned time frame. Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic & unit specific) as indicated on the Competency Inventory.

  • Periodically works with architects, engineers, or contractors to provide information about existing systems and equipment as it may relate to remodels and/or upgrades. Also provides input into new equipment and selection. Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic & unit specific) as indicated on the Competency Inventory.

  • Updates or revises as necessary all records, and/or drawings as it is related to equipment and systems being maintained to ensure accuracy of those records. Updates are completed in a timely manner. Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic & unit specific) as indicated on the Competency Inventory.

Skills:

  • Ability to troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and understand its operation.

  • Ability to maintain flexibility in approach to repair of equipment.

  • Ability to look at an unfamiliar system/equipment and determine how it operates.

  • Ability to climb ladders to access A/C equipment or systems located on roofs, ceiling crawl spaces, basements, or attics.

  • Able to read and interpret mechanical blueprints.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with others on problems or shutdowns.

  • Ability to accurately record/document information on equipment.

  • Ability to provide design recommendation on remodeling projects.

Minimum Position Requeirements:

Experience: 1 year Experience in at least four of the following systems/equipment: electrical, plumbing, medical gas systems, boilers, pumps, chillers, fire sprinklers, fire alarm, HVAC system, refrigeration, generators, and medical support equipment.

Licenses and Certifications: EPA Certification-Type II (minimum).

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience: 3 years Hospital experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • EPA certification-universal.

  • 500 Horse Power LA steam license.
