Providence is calling a Phlebotomy - Laboratory Assistant II (Per Diem/Variable Shift) at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, CA.

We are seeking a Phlebotomy - Laboratory Assistant II who will collect blood from patients, coordinate and process specimen collection following established standards and practices.
In this position you will:
Implement and maintain established department, unit, and hospital policies, procedures, and objectives as well as improving organization performance program, patient/customer safety, environmental, and infection control policies.
Centrifuge blood specimens in test tubes and capillary tubes to separate cells and sediment from blood serum, and prepares specimens for testing.
Maintain phlebotomy test tray and working area in a sanitary condition.
Draw blood from the patient by venipuncture and capillary collection observing strict principles of aseptic collection, returns blood to lab and logs into computer.
Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and requests/orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
Maintain required documentation, records, files, logs, and reports.
Inoculate media with clinical specimens to provide data on cause, cure, and prevention of illness. (PSJ employees only)
Maintain good relations with patients, medical staff, and other departments as well as other hospitals that use services.
Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings.
Attend meetings as required.
The following job accountabilities may be reassigned:
Operate hospital vehicle in performance of work when working on certain functions. (PSJ employees only)
Register patients into the hospital information system (TDS). (PSJ employees only)
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement
Current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I eligible as of 7/1/06
Phlebotomy experience
2 years experience in the health care field in related work
