Covenant Health is seeking a Full-time, Day Shift Supervisor Laboratory (MT)with the SWMP Lab Department at Covenant Medical Group.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Laboratory Director and/or Laboratory Manager the Section Supervisor plans, directs and supervises all technical and operational activities performed in his/her respective section.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, organizes and supervises the performance and reporting of all testing procedures in the department.

  • Maintains a program of maintenance on all equipment, quality control, quality assurance, and safety in accordance with CAP, JACHO, AABB, FDA and state regulations as appropriate.

  • Schedules all the department’s staff work, evaluates performance and takes corrective action as appropriate.

  • Schedules all the division’s operation and looks at areas where cost might be reduced.

  • Responsible for the adherence of all respective department staff to all standards and policies established for the department by Covenant Health System (CHS).

  • Responsible for the development of policies and procedures; and for the performance and development of all personnel assigned to the department.

  • Responsible for accurate and timely results of all procedures performed in the department.

  • Responsible for all intra- and inter-departmental communication with all hospital personnel and medical staff, when it applies to their area.

  • Responsible for keeping abreast of all new technology in their area of expertise and all educational programs in the department.

  • Prepares all workload statistical reports and other requested reports.

  • Area of Specialization:

  • Performs duties of laboratory assistant when necessary.

  • Maintain and administer established Laboratory Assistant Training program.

  • Troubleshooting and reconciliation of laboratory process related to specimen collection, order entry, and billing.

Minimum Position Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree


  • Sufficient clinical laboratory experience to perform accurately and precisely the assigned work.

Licenses and Certitifications:

  • MT(ASCP) or equivalent.

  • Certification by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology preferred.

Preferred Position Qualifications:


  • 1 year Work experience in a clinical laboratory, preferably a hospital setting.

  • 4 years In a clinical laboratory following licensure or certification.
