Covenant Health is seeking a full time, day shift Clinic LVN for Dr. Batra at Southwest Medical Plaza.

Administers nursing care to patients within an assigned clinic. Provides assistance to clinic physicians. Work closely with the Physician/APP to ensure appropriate care and follow up for all of the device clinic patients.
Demonstrates the ability to transfer scientific knowledge from social, biological, and physical sciences in applying the nursing process.
Gives patient education and instruction as directed by the physician (to include but not limited to, judgments and decisions on phone calls, advising patients with physician guidelines, procedures preparation, in-home care).
Perform clerical duties to include appointment scheduling, chart maintenance, x-ray and lab scheduling, routing all test results to physician, and reporting results to patients.
Responsible for room and patient preparation per clinic/physician guidelines. Patient assessment, vital signs, history/present illness, allergies, medication, and visual acuity on general physicals as requested.
Administers specified medication and injection, and documentation on patient medical chart. Administers prescribed procedures, including but not limited to, catheterization, throat cultures, suture removal, specimen collection, ear irrigation, wound and burn dressing. Applies orthopedic devices, arm slings, leg, ankle, wrist, and shoulder splints, and rib belts. Instruct in use of crutches.
Maintaining patient care area. Restocking supplies, exam rooms, ordering medication, and maintaining drug supplies according to system policies. Maintains work area in neat and organized manner. Maintains a safe work environment by adhering to JACHO and other regulatory requirements.
Basic ECG rhythm interpretation.
Explains procedures and treatments to patients and/or families and provides guidance as appropriate.
Gather appropriate data and assist Physician/APP in identification of needs and problems relevant to device function.
Interrogating and programming of Medtronic, Abbott(St Jude Medical), Boston Scientific, Biotronik and Soren pacemakers and ICD's per protocols.
Document accurately, promptly and appropriately according to clinic policies and standards.
Collaborate with other clinical staff for ongoing patient care.
Troubleshoot device functions and reprogram settings in accordance to clinic protocol.
Organizes care based on assessment, patient's request, family needs and the uniqueness of the situation, patient's age and the priorities of the clinic.
Assess and plan patient procedures-coordinating with patient, scheduling with EP lab and device companies.
Evaluate and manage all implantable devices in the office with the use of company specific programmers.
Evaluate and manage device checks (i.e. pacemakers, defibrillators, loop recorders, life vests, holter and event monitoring) done remotely via web based technology.
Data entry into electronic health record all pertinent information for new and returning patients.
Follow up management of patient medications including refills via EHR.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.
Coursework/Training - Electrophysiology terms, procedures including but not limited to pacemakers, defibrillators, loop records and life vests.
- 6 months of cardiac device experience by an on site training administered by Physician/APP/Device technician
License and Certification:
- Current Texas or New Mexico L.V.N license required or an approved compact state as a Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse.
