We are looking for a Associate Patient Access Representative for the Outpatient Surgery Center at St. Jude Medical Center.
Location: Fullerton, CA
Work Schedule: Part time - 48 Biweekly hours

Reports to the coordinator of the base hospital program and is responsible for data registry information related to this program. In doing so, keeps the county mandated patient data entry up to date and sent to the county as specified by OCEMS policy and procedure. Keeps office supplies available for smooth operations and communicates with pre-hospital team regarding requested statistical information.
Assumes responsibility for all data registry of pre-hospital program.
Ensures all OCEMS required data for system analysis is reviewed for accuracy and completeness. This includes all Base Hospital Reports (BHR) and Pre-Hospital Care Reports (PCR).
Maintains and provides to OCEMS all relevant data for program monitoring and evaluations of the EMS system within 45 days after the end of the preceding month.
Performs data entry of information obtained from the BHR, or the PCR for those calls managed without on-line medical direction using the data software provided by OCEMS. Performs daily audit of patients arriving to the ED via ambulance from the ABS log with the radio room log.
Utilizes MEDITECH information system for patient abstraction of information. Cross references for accuracy and makes appropriate corrections and updates in MEDITECH.
Completes data entry of MICN and base physician credentialing.
Writes reports for projects as requested, including population building and matching data fields.
Maintains office charts and supplies to include: maintain, recycle and restock radio tapes, ordering and restocking of sufficient forms and supplies for radio room as needed, and file management of base hospital and paramedic reports.
Strong communication skills to be used in oral and written communication with internal and external contacts.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of computer systems and use for word processing and graphic presentations (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Knowledge of basic office machinery (printer, fax and copier), typing skills of 55-60 WPM, and 10-key by touch.
Strong organizational and prioritizing skills, ability to work under conditions of frequent change.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when abstracting or coding.
Basic math knowledge.
Physical capabilities to sit at a desk for long periods for work processing duties, etc.
Preferred: Knowledge of ICD-9 or CPT coding, understanding of medical supplies and equipment that may be used by physicians and emergency personnel.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Secretarial and data entry experience.
Secretarial experience with scheduling and arranging meetings for continuous education program by collaborating with departments within the hospital, as well as outside agencies.
License/Certification: Basic Life Support Provider.
