Work Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

The Supervisor works with the manager in provision of services and management of area-wide therapies including outpatient and inpatient services at both St. Joseph and Redwood Memorial Hospitals including the Acute Rehab Unit. Primary roles include management of staff (including front line therapists, lead therapists and supervisor of clerical services), coordination of processes (including scheduling, budget/productivity oversight and management, and adherence to policies, procedures, and all regulatory requirements), implementation of hospital initiatives, and patient care coordination (including ensuring plans of care and treatments are coordinated and appropriate, and that overall objectives are met). The Supervisor also fills the role of clinician in their area of licensure when needed. The Supervisor assumes all departmental responsibilities when the Therapy Manager is not available or has reassigned duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists Therapy Manager with coordinating therapy services to ensure timely completion of evaluations, initiation of care plans and on-going treatments.

  • Staff Management: as directed by the Therapy Manager, provides direct oversite to therapists, lead therapists, supervisory staff, and support staff. Oversight and direction include clinical skills and performance, work roles, provision of care, and adherence to practice guidelines. Oversight includes provision of of feedback, staff guidance and disciplinary action as indicated.

  • Communicates daily with leads to oversee organizing, coordinating and controlling department schedules and productivity on a daily basis to ensure adequate coverage for all five locations.

  • Rotates work locations daily to work out of both outpaitent clinics, both inpaitent hospitals and the acute rehab unit to ensure staff have access to Assistant Manager on a regular basis.

  • Participates in staff interview process, program orientation, performance management and initial and annual reviews.

  • Participates in creating therapy staff schedules and double checking for accuracy.

  • Assists with staff and patient rounding including SuccessFactors.

  • Participates in staff development.

  • Leads Huddles in all Therapy areas, in a rotation with the Manager (as Manager can't be in all Huddle locations every day).

  • Works closely with the Therapy Manager to verify therapy staff competencies and compliance requirements such as TB/Fit testing, HealthStream, EverCheck, etc.

  • Participates in weekly department productivity tracking and ensures adherence to hospital standards.

  • Inputs new staff into Workday, diligently asks for computer accesses needed (Therapy drives, EMR, Tigerconnect, Teletracker, EZPass, HealthStream, E-mail, and Kronos) as needed and follows up with work tickets and IT until resolutions are reached.

  • Assists with RL Solutions/Event Reporting, AIR forms, Post Fall Huddles etc.

  • Approves time cards in Managers absence.

  • Provides clinical guidance and consultation to clinical staff.

  • Communicates effectively with all members including interdisciplinary team.

  • Assists with the placement of students, both post-graduate and undergraduate, and coordination of competencies.

  • Job Assignments: Willingly accepts and successfully completes other assignments as requested. Seeks clarification and works independently. Seeks input from others as appropriate to the project.

  • When treating patients, completes Evaluations, Care Plans and Treatments within approved time frames. Provides ongoing treatments that are designed to improve the patient’s functional status in conjunction with the overall treatment objectives for a given patient.

  • QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:

  • As required, attends Rehab CQI meetings on a monthly basis and participates in QA data collection and Quality Improvement projects.

  • Participates in Hospital AQ data collection, assessment and planning as needed.

Skills:

  • Ability to ensure patient confidence and comfort.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, physicians, and organizations.

  • Reads and comprehends written instructions and regulations/policy; able to interpret medical orders, correspondence, and medical records.

  • Applies deductive and common sense reasoning ability to problem solve on a frequent basis.

  • Capable of gathering data and making sound, mature decisions; ability to assess internal and external environment and make appropriate managerial changes based on those assessments.

  • Ability to coordinate, organize and manage multiple projects.

  • Flexibility to adapt to new and changing situations

  • Competence in computers and computer application

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy or Speech and Language Pathology (graduation from accredited college or university) or

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy or Speech and Language Pathology (graduation from accredited college or university) or

  • Ph.D. in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy or Speech and Language Pathology (graduation from accredited college or university).

Experience: 4 years Acute care, Acute Rehab or Outpatient experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA) certified.

  • Current licensure by the California Board of Examiners for clinical area of practice (OT, PT or SLP), or eligible for California licensure within 3 months

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience: 2 years Manager/Assistant Manager/Supervisor experience
