THE ROLE
The purpose of this position is to provide excellence in application leadership which includes, development and implementation delivery of projects and programs for Providence St Joseph Health and affiliated organizations and their instances of Epic and integrated third party applications. The essential functions of this position include planning, leadership, management, direction and administration of the portfolio of initiatives. This will include, resource planning and utilization, direction of application services operational support initiatives, vendor management, budget management within respective application focus areas. This position will ensure that all programs and projects assigned are appropriately planned, managed and delivered to meet customer defined value metrics, regulatory mandates and ongoing business and clinical requirements. Will provide leadership to maximize financial resources, quality, cost effectiveness and responsiveness by working closely with project sponsors, internal and external stakeholders and collaboration with technology, applications, operations, informatics, customer service and strategy business teams. This position is responsible for budgeting, leading, mentoring and developing directors and managers as well as other staff. Will work in close collaboration with executives, clinical governance and other senior leaders across the PSJH and affiliates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain relationships with key business partners and other senior leaders, as well as key contacts in the IT industry in order to leverage best practices, and to evaluate as well as manage emerging strategies and technologies.
Supports appropriate service delivery models for core application functions by defining, delivering and improving services for the enterprise and its caregivers.
Ensures that the Epic applications division supports IS services and systems effectively, and partners with business and clinical leadership to meet organizational objectives and strategic goals.
Develop and implement appropriate project delivery models for IS where the IS organization is a trusted adviser in defining, delivering, and improving services for the enterprise and its customers.
Support strategic planning processes, including project road mapping, prioritization, and budgeting.
Manage customer expectations regarding the success of Information Services strategies and projects; ensures measurable outcomes are defined and reported for each strategy or project.
Responsible for working with key stakeholders including executives, senior leaders, and a variety of customers to identify and deliver technical solutions that are effective and user-friendly, and support strategic initiatives, business and clinical outcomes.
Ensure the performance of applications and evaluates the performance of services on the basis of specific KPIs.
Manage budgeting and expenditures for applications, staff and services within a defined span of control. Develop budgets in partnership with the Associate Vice President to achieve IS financial targets.
Direct and oversee compliance with policies and procedures for applications that impact all of PSJH.
Attract, hire, train, motivate, retain, and develop a team of first-rate professionals to perform the responsibilities of applications management.
Maintain internal operations in order to meet or exceed Service Level Agreements, Operating Level Agreements, and associated KPIs.
Responsible for coordinating and facilitating teamwork with multidisciplinary groups, building and reaching consensus; agreeing upon a course of action where there are multiple perspectives.
As appropriate, manage and/or escalate critical issues problems or delays in production, projects or other initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services; or equivalent educ/experience
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services; or equivalent educ/experience (preferred)
Upon hire: Some application suites require advanced application certification as demonstrated by a current application software certification requirement (i.e., Epic)
Within 90 days of hire: Epic Certification (preferred)
10 or more years of closely related experience
10 or more years of Information Services leadership experience
5 years of working in a healthcare environment
3 years of leadership in an IS Application environment

Ability to drive multiple projects to completion
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multi-disciplinary groups and to accomplish work through subordinate leadership levels, or high-level individual contributors

Ability to balance multiple priorities and information needs across functional programs, facilities and regions as well as to organize short-term and long-term responsibilities in response to changing demands
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage Epic supportive information technology efficiently and cost effectively in a large and complex organizations
Ability to rapidly summarize complex information and present to others
Exceptional planning and organizing capabilities
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate openly to build relationships, teams and talent to meet the needs of Providence St. Joseph and the communities we serve
Proven ability to build an effective organization and provide responsive leadership; to delegate, coordinate and motivate staff; and to evaluate performance accurately
Respected leadership skills, particularly in the areas of Epic applications with detailed knowledge regarding our vendor strategies and internal roadmaps.

Pay Range: $73.67 - $130.26
The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
