St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Radiology Assistant - Computerized Tomography Scan in Apple Valley, California

We are looking for a Radiology Assistant for the Computerized Tomography Scan Department at St. Mary Medical Center.

Location: Apple Valley, CA

Work Schedule: Full time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 10-hour, Nights

Job Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Imaging Services, provides medical imaging assistance with patient care activities including but not limited to: patient transport, delivering of non-controlled medications to patient care units, assists technician/nurse in setting up for special procedures. This person will also transport charts, records, laboratory specimens, and other pertinent information as requested.

Essential Functions:

  • Transports patients.

  • Responds to Vocera and requests for transport promptly and communicates to Supervisor of Imaging or Transport and Monitor RN via phone/Vocera. Reports any delays and/or changes of patient’s condition while transporting. Keeps Transport and Monitor RN/technologists informed of delays and/or estimated time of arrival.

  • Provides for patient comfort, privacy, and safety at all times.

  • Demonstrates proper body mechanics while moving patients.

  • Assists the technologist to call prior to any inpatient transport and verify there is a ticket to ride for the patient.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific needs. Prepares and sets up age-appropriate equipment and supplies and assesses need for additional safety measures for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.

  • Coordinates with the Transport and Monitor RN to ensure turnaround time.

  • Assesses all wheelchairs and gurney for safety prior to use. Maintains, dusts, sanitizes all equipment to assure all are clean, in good condition and working order. Reports any malfunctions of any equipment to supervisor.

  • Monitors inventory of supplies and stock according to HFAP regulation.

  • Continually uses time to department's advantage (stocking, inventory, clerical duties and special projects).

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Licenses/Certifications: Current BLS for Healthcare Provider.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience: 2 years experience in a hospital setting.
