St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Administrative Fellow - Shared Services in Anaheim, California

We are looking for an Administrative Fellow for the HCS Shared Services Department at Home Care Services.

Location: Anaheim, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Chief Executive, the Administrative Fellow (Fellow) will work with key administrative personnel in order to gain exposure to the management of SJH, its relationship with in St. Joseph Health (SJH), as well as within the broader healthcare landscape. The Fellow will be assigned to select projects related to the business and operations of SJH. The Fellow will work directly with the SJH CE, who will serve as the primary preceptor and will provide guidance and feedback on projects and opportunities. The Fellow and the CE will assess potential projects and collectively select which ones the Fellow will work on, keeping in mind both the interests of the Fellow and the needs of SJH. Some duties may include gathering, analyzing and interpreting information relating to the synthesis of recommendations; report and present development and delivery; and process improvements. Over the course of the year the Fellow will have the opportunity to formally meet and hear from some of the senior leaders at SJH (one-on-one) and sit in on executive management meetings while tackling various inter-departmental projects. While working closely with SJHH Management Team, the Fellow will need to use discretion and independent judgment, as necessary, in assessing situations, considering alternatives and determining appropriate courses of action. Throughout their time, the Fellow will gain insight into the inner-workings of SJH and how its work is realized in the surrounding community.

Essential Functions:

  • Works collaboratively with CE and other executive leadership to implement and assist in projects related to SJHH.

  • Attends all related meetings; is responsive to other meetings and committees as required. Communicates outcomes appropriately.

  • Maintains compliance with all legal, OSHA HIPAA, State and Federal requirements.

  • Participates with CE and executive leadership in the design, development, integration and implementation of strategic initiatives, health improvement, community outreach, mission integration, clinical research and other defined initiatives.

  • Responds to the needs of others through effective communication, mutual respect, and consistent follow through in order to generate trust and enhance personal effectiveness.

  • Participates on project related work teams, fosters shared problem solving and supports decisions of the work team.

Skills:

  • Familiarity in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Excellent communication skills, (verbal and written); able to communicate with all levels of management, staff, physicians, patients and public.

  • Excellent computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.

  • Demonstrates ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives and choose an appropriate course of action. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that mode the SJH core values and mission statement.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for the majority of duties assigned.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education: Master's Degree in Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Health Care Administration, Management, Public Health, Public Policy or other equivalently relevant degrees from an accredited graduate program.

Experience:

  • Exposure to designing, managing and effectively leading organizational change initiatives.

  • Exposure to data collection, analysis, and providing written reports, proposals incorporating findings.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid California Driver’s License for travel between locations.
